Digging & Dodging - 29.09.13

Digging:

1. Wearing skirts and tights:
Its become that in between weather when it can't decide if its going to be hot or freezing - Mordor or Arctic where i live.
2. Simpsons tapped out app:
I got a new phone the other day as an early birthday present off my Mum, and i'v been enjoying the apps, especially tapped out. Its pretty addictive but i love it.
3. Bloome Air and fabric freshener in rose:
It's a cheap air/room spray that i found at the range, I'm not usually the one who likes rose scents, i'm more of a sandalwood girl but this is really nice. Its not that sickly sweet rose smell like most.

Dodging:

1. Fizzy drinks:
They've started to upset my stomach as of lately so I've been on the cordial and water.
2. Full foundation:
I wanted to give my skin some breathing room so i thought maybe something less heavy would help so I've been using BB creams and tinted moisturizer.

The Dead Rise Again.

So if you're like me and you've been counting down the months, days and hours until the new season of The Walking Dead come out you'll enjoy this post :)

Ever since the trailer came out for season four, i have buzzing with excitement. It looks so intense and thrilling. Hopefully, the first episode goes off with a bang and drama ensues from start to finish packed full of gory zombies and panic. If you haven't seen the trailer, stop reading and click here! It's the only one i could find that was the actual trailer and not just a weird compilation of the previous seasons in an odd format. So just close all the little red boxes, sit back and relax.

I will warn you now and say this post is going to be especially long as i will be going into detail my opinion and my findings from watching and re-watching the trailer so grab a cup of tea and get comfy, its about to be a long ride.

I would rather not spoil the experience for people who haven't seen it or haven't caught up with the last seasons episodes so here's my very first [SPOILER ALERT] because i will be discussing it all below and in another post.

The Trailer:
So it starts off at the Big spot store with a lovely shot of Mr Dixon being his usual aloof self. We see them starting to raid the store for 'specific items', which are unknown to us, with Tyreese cracking a few jokes along the way. And then... Oh hello there's new face. There's a new character and we have a little shot of him stood on guard outside the door. Now i'm assuming he moved over with all the other people In Woodbury but he may have joined the group another way. A Scream alerts the new fellow and panic starts.

Then we get a pan of the prison grounds with Carol and Daryl talking about the build-up of Walkers on the fences and explains how they are becoming more organised (Deep blue sea reference). The newbies then get their hands dirty with the clear up. A nice introductory shot of Michonne on a horse and Rick helping with the new gates. The prison looks like its had a lot of upgrades since the previous season, such as the gates.

Panic Panic! A girl screaming help and shots fired. Our favourite characters run the rescue to deal with the situation. "There's walkers in D!". And so panic riles and we wonder how Walkers managed to get in there. Did they die in there? Was there a murder and they didn't 'finish the job' properly? Did somebody attack the cell block? Rick and the Gang investigate the attack to see whom or what caused it. To me, the way this is shot hints towards it being either the Governor or and inside job.

At an Army/Medical camp the group search for supplies and the new guy I mentioned is with them and states he wants to start pulling his weight. I'm a little wary of this character and his portrayal is done well. They have made it so that there is just something slightly off about him. He doesn't scream backstabber or absolute nutcase like the Gov did, he's just a character to keep an eye on.

Carol is teaching the new little ones about knives and protecting themselves. I'm happy to see Carol take a more hands on role. Her character has always been a favourite of mine because shes a strong woman that doesn't fall under the usual butch stereotype. Also there is a little scene that will warm the cockles of your heart. A new little girl holds Carols hand and it makes you reminisce to when Sofia was around. Maybe a new character added to the main group for Carol to let her maternal side out on.

We get a few flashes of characters faces. Carol, Maggie, Carl, New Guy and the a behind shot of Tyreese looking at a blood trail. Many people have taken this to be a hint towards Lori and something to do with her. I wouldn't like to speculate on that, Its always been a bit of a mystery of what 'really happened to Lori'. if shes a walker roaming in the prison because Carl didn't/messed up the shooting or if she was all eaten up my the big fat walker that Rick let his fury out on.

Hershel notes that maybe they should leave and Tyreese finally sees what was at the end of the blood trail. Of course we don't get to see (Damn you AMC) but it looks like a big plot twist waiting to happen as he looks pretty torn up about it. Maybe somebody he was close to was hurt or maybe its just something shocking to look at?

They lost 12 of the group. This is ambiguous in that we don't know if that all happened in the attack on the cell or maybe if something else big happens. Hershel states two more were killed in cold blood. Oh snap! Maybe there is inner conflicts to look forward to.

Other threats also seem to be bothering the group like rats being left out for the Walkers so they push up at the fence at specific one point, causing it to almost collapse and the group have to fend them off. This could cause trouble in the long run and who exactly is feeding the Walkers?

Rick is under a lot of stress and it shows when he speaks to Michonne. They worry is the prison is under risk as the Walker situation gets out of hand. Glenn and Maggie propose leaving the prison and we see a shot of Daryl on his bike and two cars following him out the gates. Are they actually leaving?

Macon! So if you played the walking dead game (telltale one) you will recognize Macon as the place Lee grew up in and where the family drugstore was when you met all the other characters like Lilly, Kenny etc. So maybe there will be some crossover from the TV show to the comic styles?

Rick cradles little baby Judith 'Ass-kicker' as we see one of the cars speed away. Carl and Hershel are in the woods and come upon a Walker that looks like its being reclaimed by nature. There has been some speculation about this also. Some think its Jim from season one whom they left beside the tree and I personally believed that at first because the circumstances fit. However, after re-watching it the Walker looks like a female which begs to question what is the significance?

The leaving group, which now looks to be Michonne, Daryl, New guy and Tyreese, are getting surrounded by a horde of zombies whilst in the car. They begin defending themselves but Tyreese looks a little down. We can also see he has a black eye? And where exactly is Sasha? i thought they were inseparable. Did she stay at the prison or has something much worse happened? Tyreese gets surrounded by the Walkers when he finally gets out the car and he may be in big trouble. The camera cuts away to see the new guy screaming.

More scenes of zombies and the group follow as Hershel delivers one of his epic speeches. "You step outside, you risk your life. Take a drink of water, you risk your life".

Carol seems to get into some trouble whilst at the stream. New guys screams and we see Glenn's face. Maybe that's a hint? We see Daryl being held by his shirt and a fight starts involving his and Tyreese. That's possibly where Tyreese got his black eye?

Hershel continues:
"You dont have a choice. The only thing you can choose is what your risking it for".
I like this type of monologue over a video like this its very atmospheric and gets the audience excited. The trailer 'ends' with Rick pointing his gun at something or someone and shooting. Throughout the entire trailer we dont see that much of Rick which maybe hints at him taking a bit more of a back seat this season or maybe letting a few more people decide. Maybe its not a Ricktatorship anymore, personally i think he deserves a bit of time off since last season he went barking mad.

After the release date messages we get an extra little scene of the leaving party in the car. The car radio murmurs and crackles and a woman's voice appears in the noise. "Sanctuary. You arrive. You survive" she states. If your a reader of the comics, this will have meaning to you and its rather exciting to know that they are following a small part of the comics story line.

Throughout the trailer we are given the message "This October fear the unknown". This possibly means maybe the Governor isn't a big problem in this season and that there may be bigger problems closer to home with people closer to our hearts.

I Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i like writing it. Yes it's a long one but as its TWD i hope most wont mind.
I will be posting again in a few days recapping on the past three seasons. Maybe a post per season so its not incredibly long and boring.

Watch this space Zombie lovers.

Digging & Dodging - 08.09.13

So this is what i have been digging and dodging this week!

Digging:

Under the Dome:
i absolutely love it, its so creative and the fact its based off a Steven King book just makes it that much better.

Dove summer glow body lotion:
So i went absolutely no where hot this summer. It was a holiday free summer, which isn't such a bad thing when it is as hot as it was here. Unfortunately, when the heat was at its best i couldn't enjoy it or go out and tan because i burned within the first 3 hours severely. Ah pale folk problems.

No nail varnish:
So this week i've been trying to grow my nails as much as possible and ive actually been enjoying not having nail paint on, Au natural if you may.

Dodging:

The weather:
The weather this past week has been abysmal! i genuinely have left the house maybe twice. I dont do rain -.-

Wearing make-up:
Since i haven't been venturing into the outside world, i have had no need to put any on and i think my skin thanks me for that.

Heat on hair:
i haven't styled my hair with any heat either. Good ol' salt spray never fails. That or a sock bun works best when i want to give my hair a rest (i do this for a week every month including using deep conditioners and having a trim)

Digging & Dodging - 01.09.2013.

Introducing a new segment for my blog!
Digging & Dodging!
This is going to be a little weekly post showing three things I've been liking (or digging) in that week and what I've not been liking (dodging).
i thought this was a nice little idea to round up each week and i can share the nice things i find and warn against the not so nice things.
So lets get this show started!

Digging:

1. Wearing checkered shirts.
Let me explain, last week i went through my wardrobe in search of clothes i hardly wear when i came across my large array of checked shirts. In my high school and college hay days i wore them to death so i thought to my self "eh why the heck not?" And all week I've been loving wearing them again. Pretty sure i have one in all colours. Think they'll make an appearance when go back to university.

2. Extra Bubblemint chewing gum:
Odd one but I've bought like 4 packs this week alone. If your a 90's kid like me you'll probably find the taste familiar. It tastes the exact same as the old Colgate bugs bunny bubblegum toothpaste you could buy. I would pester my Mum until she bought it and the tweety pie one :)

3. The Lean Machines:
Over the summer i have been working out a lot more and eating healthier. I'm a long lover of anything YouTube and i'm a fan of the PixiWoo girls, Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman. So when i found out that They had a brother/In law that does workout and fitness videos, i kinda squee'd. If your into fitness or just want to become a bit healthier i really recommend their channel.

Dodging:

1. Big Brother:
I've never really been a big fan of 'reality TV' and i think the last time I watched Big Brother was when it was 'the last ever' and Brian won the ultimate Big brother housemate thing. Then it was renewed so... that was all bull.

2. Bad Food:
It kind of explains itself but yes I've been a good girl in the food department this week.

3. Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke
I used to really like this song and could groove out to it. But now? its been ruined by radios and adverts everywhere! Overplayed and annoying now.

Magnetic Attraction

Ever stare at your nails and decide you can't be bothered doing them and force yourself into thinking "i'm rocking the natural look". Then when you cave and finally do them, you less than impressed with the outcome?
Fret no more!
I have found something that helps even the more artistically challenged folk create funky ass nails. Its called nail attract and its by Vivo. Never heard of them? Neither had I until I found them whilst browsing the aisles of Tesco. I was actually so impressed by this nail varnish that I went back and bought more of their products, just to test them out, and was also pleasantly surprised.

So what makes this nail varnish special? Its MAGNETIC! Yeah man! If that doesn't make doing your nails less boring then i dont know what will.

Method:
First off paint on one coat of the varnish and let it dry. This is the boring part but it does help that the varnish is gorgeous and twinkles when you wriggle your fingers. The formula actually dries very quickly so you won't be bored for long.

Now, once coat 1 has dried, paint on a second coat. This is when the magic happens! Whilst the coat is still wet hold the varnish cap (upside down) over the nail for about 10-15 seconds. The closer you hold it to your nail the more pronounced the pattern will be. DO NOT let your nail touch the magnet! It has a little curve on the cap which you can rest on your finger to help prevent such things.

The magic cap with the curve to help.

After the 10-15 seconds take the cap away and hey presto! Magic nail art that only took you a minute to do. As you can see my pattern is a curvy zig-zag line. The pattern is shown on the packaging so you know what one your getting.

I have the colour Dream on which is a kind of musky purple colour with silver shimmer particles. I saw many variations of gold, bronze and a few more purple whilst I was there so it looks like a very rich and luxurious palette. Click here to see.

The varnish retails at £4.99 so a total bargain!

Hope you enjoyed this post, I may review this brand more in the next few months.

Breaking Beauties.

Hello again!
Sorry for the lack of content in the past few weeks but i just haven't been able to blog. No No Delilah Dell is fine and well and still running on all cylinders, This time i was the ill one.

Usually when i'm ill i would do something like blogging or devour the entire virtual world of pinterest because i'm a fidget bug and can't sit doing nothing interesting for more than five minutes even when i'm dreaming. Yeah, i'm that much of a pain in the arse Bum!

Anyways, this time i couldn't go on my laptop or play on my tablet or watch TV/film or fiddle around with any gaming because i had severe migraines.
I actually wore sunglasses one day...
And one other fun fact you'll discover about me today is that 2 weeks without technology makes me want to cut a bitch cry. Some may think that it's disgusting how much i rely on tech, some will definitely relate to me. I once saw a guy cry because he had no WiFi signal. True story. He may have been drunk. Nevertheless, still a good argument.

So yeah, migraines suck.

Onto today's topic.
Most will have guessed by the post title so yes this is about one of my other loves (fun fact numero dos for the day) Breaking Bad.
Now everybody should know what Breaking Bad is. If not then pick of the following reasons why:

1. You've been living under a rock since 2008.
2. You don't understand the funnies.
3. Your a shameful human being.
(i'd go for number one if i was you)

In a nutshell:
Breaking Bad, for those who like rocks, is an AMC series (yeah the Walking Dead genius') which, without giving away actual spoilers, follows the lives of Walter White, a fifty year old chem lab teacher going through the turbulence of having stage 3 inoperable lung cancer with a baby on the way and worrying about his family after he is no more. He has a slowly budding partnership with Jesse Pinkman, an ex student of his turned drug dealer/addict with other problems to boot, exploring the world of cooking meth and gangsters.

If that didn't entice you then ill go all media student on your sorry selves. >:3

Until you've seen 1-3 episodes of BBad, you have not seen art in its true form. It has got to be the strangest show that i watch, that's saying something, yet i think its the most beautifully made, including TWD. It has very special little moments of parched dry humour that will make the grumpiest of people smirk. The first shot on the pilot is hilarious! The secret relationship between Walt and Jesse is fantastic.

"But meth?" i hear you ask:
What makes it even better is that a TV series based around the use of meth doesn't focus on the meth almost at all. When it does its almost as if the audience is desensitized to it which makes it all the more enjoyable to watch because your not sat there judging or thinking "oh no they're a bad person", your laughing along with the antics the meth situations create. Like Walt in his underpants, gloves, respirator mask and an apron that may as well say kiss the cook.
And of course anything to do with meth is a big no no and all the people who I've asked why they won't watch it have said "sounds pretty bad" "meth heads though?". I pity you because you don't come away from watching an episode thinking "hmm, lets go cook meth! Yey raging meth party!". If anything you come away thinking of all the funny lines that have been said throughout one episode.

Enticed yet? Thought so. You've just been media student'ed! Boom!

Not sure that works as a word..

Anyways i shall leave you with my favourite pictures that describe BBad to the tee.

BuhBye!

Lasting Perfection.

Lasting perfection. That's what we all want in a foundation right? Well the one I'm reviewing today is literally that. Collection 2000 lasting perfection ultimate wear foundation with 16 hour wear, SPF 20 and oil free. Now that's a lot of promises for a foundation. Hopefully it keeps them. I've had this foundation, like all others I'm reviewing, in my bag for a week and used it whenever I wanted make-up on. I've been very strict and not let myself waver and cave in to my old favourites. Lets hope it pays off.

Formula:
The formula for this is incredible. I actually couldnt believe it. I was well and truly expecting this foundation to let me down because of all the promises it makes but no, pessimistic as always Sarah! Its very blend-able, not at all tacky when applied and you can't tell that you have it on. I got it in two different colours Vanilla and Natural Beige. The darker colour is the natural beige and it seems that the darker the colour is the more yellow the tones. But fear not fellow pale folk, Vanilla and ivory have no yellow tones at all! Overall a very good formula.

Cover:
The cover is medium. It gives off a very flawless finish just as it promises. It makes your skin look very smooth and gets rid of those wee lumps and bumps. What about the 16 hour wear promise I hear you ask? Well I'm not so sure about that. I would say it lasts about 10-12 hours (depending on your skin type) which is incredibly long for a foundation. I didn't use a primer with it as I felt it didn't need it but maybe with one it would last that bit longer. maybe even the 16 hours it promises. The SPF 20 I can't prove if that works but I would like to think it does. Seeing as its been rather hot weather last week, I chose to wear this one and I didn't burn at all on my face (which i usually do in such temperatures) So take that however you like.

Packaging:
The packaging is very nice. The bottle is glass and is the kind that has that matte velvety finish, which I LOVE! It just makes it feel that bit more expensive. The bottle is rather large and due to me using the product quite sparingly (its that good!) I think it will last a long time. 30 ml to be precise. The Cover and go was a little more at 35 ml but i think you needed to use more product each time. The bottle has a pump, which is fantastic. The only issue I had with the packaging was the lid. It seemed to brake very easily when it was in my bag. I've taken it with me for a week and it just seemed to be very fragile, so much so I took to putting it in a little plastic seal baggie just in case it spills in my make-up pouch.

Price:
Once again I'm so excited by this. £5.99! Again! That's just amazing. The foundation is so good I would expect it to be more. Like around £10 or £9. But £5.99! That's just too good to be true. I think i may be going back and buying more.

Formula - 9/10
Cover - 9/10
Packaging - 8/10
Price - 10/10

So far this is my favourite of the ones I've reviewed, I know that's not saying much as its only been two but its pretty perfect. Hopefully you liked this review. There's only two more to go! The next one ill be reviewing is the Maybelline Fit Me foundation. See, they're not all collection after all! If you'd like to see the shades and the customer reviews of the Lasting perfection foundation just click the link below.
