Cover & Go.

So this is part one of my inexpensive foundation reviews that I'm doing to try and prove that there really are a few diamonds in the rough. The first foundation on my list is the Collection 2000, or as its known as just Collection now, Cover and Go.

This is a concealer foundation combo with a mirror in the cap. I thought this was quite a clever idea seeing as when your on the go its alot easier to have mirror, foundation and concealer all together, especially if you travel alot!
Im going to score its quality out of 10  in different categories:
Formula, Cover, Packaging and Price.
So lets get started :)

Formula:
The formula is very creamy and a nice texture, however its one of those foundations that you can tell is on your skin for a while. something that i prefer not to have. However if you can deal with the tacky-ness for a little while (10-30 min) or add powder then all is well. However, i do recommend that if you have combination skin like me, or dry for that matter, you should definitely use a good moisturizer and primer before hand as it seemed to dry up a little and went patchy if i didn't use them.

Cover:
The cover is very slight. Its a bulidable foundation that, when buffed in, looks good no matter how much you put on. Its a good foundation to have in  summer or on holiday as it becomes quite breathable and lets your natural freckles shine through.

Packaging:
The packaging is quite cute but very little in the way of luxury. In short, you can tell its an inexpensive brand and foundation. However, i do find the gold to be a nice touch. The style of packaging is very clever when it has the concealer and mirror in the cap. But I'm not keen on how the foundation comes out, I much prefer foundation pumps.

Price:
£5.99 is an incredibly cheap foundation. I actually couldnt believe it when i got to the till. I think for what it is worth and the quality, its a very good buy for the summer, not so much winter just because of how bad it can look on slightly dry skin.

Formula - 7/10
Cover - 7/10
Packaging - 6/10
Price - 10/10

I hope you enjoyed this review and if you would like to see others reviews on it  or to see the colours its available in (mine was light) click the link below. The next foundation in going to review is the Collection 2000 lasting perfection ultimate wear foundation. So stay tuned for that in the next few days.

The cracks in our foundation.

Foundation. The very base of make-up, Literally.
My personal favourite foundation is the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation in Porcelain which is around £13-£14.
However, as of late I have been testing out a few very inexpensive foundations as a little experiment of mine.
My theory is that there will be some perfect foundations out there for very little in the way of pounds, diamonds in the rough if you will. This theory is based upon my love for the collection 2000 concealer. You all know the one, the one everybody loves! I buy them in bulks of 5 at a time and dont actually use any other brand or type. Therefore I thought some foundations may be the same. In the next week I will be reviewing a few inexpensive foundations from drugstore brands. All of the foundations cost less than £10 which is a bargain in everyone's book so watch this space if your interested in that.

The first one I shall be reviewing is the Collection 2000 Cover & Go.

Ten Green Bottles Sitting On The Shelf...

So are you sick of having to do the walk and clank of shame on Saturday mornings to the lovely bins? Not sure what i'm getting at? Well imagine this scenario...

Its a nice bright morning and your 21 and a day old. Your friends are strewn across the house in various sleeping arrangements, including spooning your pet cat. You need to make the house presentable so start clearing away the remnants of last nights party happenings. Unfortunately this includes cleaning away empty bottles of cider, lager, wine and non alcoholic root beer. So you pick them up quietly, not waking a single person. Tip-toe outside and stealthily sneak across the lawn to the bins. Your basically a ninja and then you open the glass bin and... CLANK SMASH CLINK CLANK CLINKKKK. The entire neighborhood wakes up. and the only thought that runs through your head is 'FML' followed shortly by 'Get inside quick before people see you in your unicorn pj's!'

Well fear no more fellow sufferers. Sarah is here with many inspiration from this wonderful thing called Pinterest. You haven't heard of it? Have you been living under a rock? Click below to see the magical'ness.

Want to check my boards out? Go ahead. Clicky heree!

So here is how I solve your embarrassing problem.

First off you need to find the jars/bottles you will use:
Simple. Have a coolio party and collect many bottles or various sizes and shapes. This is optional obviously, but its the more fun alternative. You can use any types of bottles/jars. Coffee jars, Jam jars, Sweet jars, Wine bottle etc. So just root through your cupboards for things that will make a good shape or things that are nearly empty. Something that will look interesting is a good place to start.

Cant beat a bit of good old rich Roast eh? This is one of the jars I used.

Secondly you can figure out what exactly you want to do with these bottles:
1. Are they for a theme or holiday? Halloween you could use pumpkin stencils, yarn and burlap.
2. Style? Vintage, Modern, Classic.
3. Colour? Monochrome is in right now. As are neon variations. Or maybe you want something to go with your particular decor?
4. Anything else? Do want glitter or sequins or puffy paint detailing or doilies or newspaper. The possibilities are endless.

Next guys and gals is the idea process:
So after you've thought about that for a while. The more detail orientated of you may have made a list or spider diagram... or is that just my over the top organizing? you will have some indication of what they will look like in your mind.

Here are my finished results of a few of my many ideas which ill explain below:

So ill start from left to right:
Small newspaper french lager bottle:
I thought this was a rather cute shape and you dont often find lager bottles like this, or maybe that is just me. I took the label off (this is rather difficult with some bottles/jars especially coffee jars! So I will put helpful links below on the methods I used) cleaned the bottle with hot soapy water, dont want the smell of lager lingering now do we? So remember to wash out the inside too. Now by using an old book you dont read or a newspaper (broadsheet is best for just text) cut strips and strands of it up. These can be uniform or random width etc. Now get you PVA on man! the fun part is here! Pour some of the glue into a bowl for easy access. You will need PVA as it drys clear. So now you dip your strips of paper into the little bowl of glue so they're all good and coated and them wrap and stick them around the bottle. I left some parts still green as I was using that to my advantage and calling it 'rustic'
And that's is really for that one. Very simple and easy. You can then add embellishments to it like yarn wrapped around and tied in a bow at the neck. Remember to glue them in place though!

Large painted wine bottle:
This is just the classic wine bottle shape, i'm pretty sure it was a Blossom hill one but i cant promise anything. Once again take the label off (tips below) and clean out the bottle thoroughly. Now its squeaky clean you can try your hand at puffy paint. Now this isn't for everyone and is not the easiest of things to do if your less that acceptable at legible writing. but it does pay off. Puffy paint can be bought from many crafts shops across the UK and i'm sure other places. I bought mine online from Amazon. It comes in a variety of colours and shades. I used a very very pale yellow one because i wanted it to not be seen as i was painting over it. However you can make some fabulous creations with neon dots of puffy paint on clear glass and other things like in images ill show at the end. Puffy paint can also me hand made by yourself. It makes the process harder but if your into that then go for it (link below to handmade method on puffy paint). Now create whatever pattern you want. Go wild. Spots? Zebra print? Smiley faces? Anything. you can leave it as it is or paint over it like i did. I used just plain old matte paint that i actually used on my walls of my bedroom. Matte paint looks better than any other types of paint just so you know. Just use a few thin layers and let them dry completely.

Large newspaper wine bottle:
Not much i can say about this one as its basically the same method as the first one. However i went a little mad with this one and put the newspaper anywhere i fancied in a rather hap hazard way which i rather liked. Another thing to add though is do be careful if you want to remove the metal part of wine bottles that sits on the neck like i have done. Its best to use a sharp tool that will cut it cleanly away so you dont hurt yourself as the metal can get quite sharp.

please be careful when removing. Sharp edges can appear!
Now for the helpful links i promised:

I hope you liked this little tutorial and ill be doing more stuff like this in the future because i enjoy it. Please comment below if you liked it and how you would use old bottles and jars and turn them into interesting pieces for your home. Here are some wonderful images I found on Pinterest as inspiration for the bottles and including the various ways you can use puffy paint.

Hey There Delilah.

Okay so many apologies for not continuing with the photo a day July challenge but for the past two-ish weeks, Delilah dell was admitted to laptop hospital to wit she almost died about four nine-ish times? An awful shame i know. I've only just got my laptop back and seeing as the only other computing device we have in the house is my mums net-book, blogging wasn't an option. Not due to it not being able to, but the fact it hates me and decides its had enough for today and packs up shop as soon as I even use a key stroke.

So I've been AWOL as of late but promises are being made that I shall not break, well try my hardest not to. Delilah dell is thrusting on all cylinders and all better so expect more blogging to commence within the next few days.

Little tasters of what are to come? Sure greedy pants!

1. A way to be a creative alcoholic. I'm joking of course. But expect something crafty and using glassware.
2. I'm a big Halloween fan. i know shocker a geek that likes Halloween! unheard of right? So maybe a few tasters of what i have planned for nearer to that.
3. Lots and lots of butterflies!
4. a few cheeky reviews.
5. A new segment that will be added at the end (or beginning) of every week. Sort of a whats hot whats not thing but not as trivial.
and lastly
6. If possible i will be doing a friend test with my bestie (if she allows it of course) just as a little something for you to get to know me and my little circle of happiness a bit better.

So watch this space. Some magic is about to happen... I'm actually going to blog!

An Animal

8. An animal.

An animal. My animal to be exact.
This big bunch of fur, love and whiskers is my mammoth tabby cat Oliver.  Pretty sure he's immortal. Don't even know how old he is other than he's 10+. I genuinely lost count. Love his to bits and i'm sure hes some sort of reincarnate of a person...

After Dark

4. After dark.

This was when darkness fell over the etihad stadium when i went watching Muse at the start of June. A giant light bulb. Yup. With an acrobat dangling from the bottom, twisting and twirling. Yeah cause it needed that, like a giant glowing light bulb wasn't enough! It was amazing though.

On my table.

3. On my table.

This is what is on my table/desk most days.
I don't think I've ever had a day at home where I've not been on my laptop. Most of the stuff i do involves all the stuff there.

I don't like having bare nails. Makes me feel rather naked nudey dudey. Today i have nude and peach leopard print, just cause :)

I need my glasses due to being blind as a bat when it comes to things far away. I particularly like these glasses. I used to have boring, old, plain black ones but now I have these beauties. They're like a murky purple/brown on the outside and pink on the inside. I love me some purple.

My tablet is when i cannot be arsed dealing with my laptop. Delilah Dell has her off days and proves to be quite a challenge when she wants. Its a mini gadget (whatever that is?) it was actually recommended to me by my bestie and seeing as at the time i was a poor college student who could barely afford a new eagle binder, I couldnt afford a more prestigious brand. But to be honest, its rather nifty and I mostly use it as a kindle.

And of course my little wee phone. its a Samsung Galaxy Ace. Its not all singing and dancing like all the new samsungs are (i mean i have had it almost two years) but its gotten me through and its never actually broken in any way, something that is hard to find these days. Ah the nostalgia you get when you hold a Nokia 3310 in your hand, that indestructible weapon with the first phone game ever.. Snake of course.

But i dont think i will stray away from samsungs for a while. I love them. before this one i had a samsung tocco lite. Before that a samsung tocco original. And then before that i even had a samsung e900. Dedication :)

It also helps to have a cute case like that one too.
